Folded Spoon

Terry Widner carved this spoon from a single piece of dramatically grained hardwood, the handle’s three sections appearing to fold inside one another as they twist from the broad, flat tail up through a pinched waist to a generous pointed-oval bowl. The wood’s bold streaking runs uninterrupted through every transition, making the illusion harder to explain the longer you look at it.

A compact, versatile everyday spoon that is also, unmistakably, a small sculpture. One of a kind.
